Anneli Valpola, M.A., studied work psychology and social policy at the University of Helsinki, critical management studies at Lancaster University (MPhil), and change consultancy in Sweden (PA_rådet). She has worked at the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, at Sinebrychoff, and at Wärtsilä—first at the Helsinki shipyard and later in corporate management as a director.

Anneli also has extensive international experience as a consultant in global companies’ change initiatives and in post-merger integrations. She has carried out international consulting assignments in cooperation with the Mil Institute (Sweden) and Ashridge Executive Education (UK). She has contributed to numerous working groups, including the Technology Industries of Finland business group, the Training Advisory Board of the Management Institute of Finland, and the executive board of the European Foundation for Vocational Learning. She has also been an active member of Henry, SSJS, and the Scandinavian Action Learning Association.

Currently a flexible retiree, Anneli has wide experience in organizational change and the development of strategic leadership, and she enjoys sparring and mentoring in short sessions. Her themes include: How to create more dialogue in strategic management? How can organizational culture engage everyone? How to accelerate change initiatives into practice? How to find and grow the necessary competences? How to cope and endure as a leader, as a bearer of responsibility?

Anneli has written numerous books on leadership as well as workbooks suitable for self-directed learning. Most recently she published Valpola: Dialogic Communication in Strategy Work (Professional Publishing Finland, 2023).
